Exploring OUR Backyard: Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive

Nearly 100 riders and 300 cattle finish their 5 day journey with a parade through the streets of Reno

Up until last week, my experience with the cowboy lifestyle was limited. Sure, I had covered a few Reno Rodeo events, and had attended a few as a patron as well. But the idea of riding a horse for an extended period of time, let a lone driving cattle was a foreign thought.

But, I pushed myself beyond new boundaries by joining the five day Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive. Five days, riding for 80 miles on horseback, driving 300 head of cattle across beautiful, isolated stretches of the California and Nevada desert.

And it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

In the latest installment of "Exploring OUR Backyard," driven by Lithia Subaru, I will take you along for my journey with News 4-Fox 11's Ryan Kern.

I can say hands down that this is something I would do again in a heartbeat.
