Local fitness studios help you get in shape for the new year

This studio provides 60 minutes of high intensity interval training by incorporating the rower, free weights, and running intervals. The science behind it is to get into the "Orange Zone" which is calculated as 84 percent of your heart rate. They say that if you stay in the Orange Zone for a combined total of 12 minutes you produce "EPOC" - excess post-exercise oxygen consumption - also known as the afterburn. Once EPOC is produced, your body can burn calories for up to 36 hours after your workout is complete. In effect, if you workout every other day, your body can continue to burn calories everyday.
If you're looking for a zero-impact workout that will still cause you to sweat and get your heart pumping, then Pure Barre is where you want to be. In less than an hour you will get a full-body workout - working your hips, thighs, seat, abs and arms. The low-impact nature of the workout protects your joints by strengthening the muscles around them. And each section is followed by a stretching sequence designed to create long, lean muscles without bulk. The workout is done in grip socks, and although most people believe it's a women-only workout, men in the area enjoy the heart-pumping, muscle-sculpting workout as well.
If lifting weights and boxing are more your speed, then Elite Boxing and Fitness is right up your alley. The large, open-spaced boxing and Crossfit gym comes equipped with a boxing ring, boxing bags, and everything a Crossfit-lover could want in a workout. They offer a wide range of classes, and even when classes are not in session, the gym is still open for members to workout. Local professional boxer Ricardo Lucio-Galvan has been training at this gym for a few years now, and he and many of the members we spoke to say that one of their favorite parts about the facility is the motivation that other members provide - and motivation is a big help when trying to achieve our 2018 fitness resolutions.
Although many people believe that these kinds of specialty studios are only for seasoned athletes and gym-goers, the owners of all three gyms say that they cater to people of all ages and all skill. So if you've promised yourself to get in shape, lose weight or simply exercise more and you don't know where to start, you should definitely check out one of these facilities.
