WCSO: 21-year-old man killed in officer involved shooting on Saturday on Peckham Lane
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has released additional details on an officer involved shooting that killed a man on Peckham Lane on Saturday, March 31.
According to investigators, 21-year-old Nicolas Sedano was shot and killed by Reno Police at approximately 10:30 p.m. after officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Peckham Plaza Mini-Storage located at 1400 E. Peckham Lane.
While checking the area of the storage units on foot, two Reno Police Department officers encountered a stolen Honda Civic parked behind one of the buildings. The vehicle was occupied by Sedano.
During contact with Sedano, an officer involved shooting occurred involving two Reno Police Department officers.
He sustained life-threatening injuries and officers immediately started lifesaving measures at the scene. Sedano was transported to a local hospital where he was declared dead.
No other civilians or officers were injured in this incident.
The Washoe County Regional Officer Involved Shooting Protocol has been activated.
The Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency for this investigation, working with investigators from the Sparks Police Department, and the Washoe county District Attorney’s Office. Once completed, the investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorney for his review.
