SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. -- A new site for seniors in Spanish Springs was opened on Tuesday, December 4.
The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) Senior Services Division, Regional Parks and Open Space, and the Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to introduce the new meal site for seniors.
Washoe County says the new site will serve seniors 60 and older nutritious meals, prepared by Catholic Charities at the Washoe County Senior Center. The Spanish Springs meal site is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The site is also a place not only where seniors can have a meal, but also socialize, and play card and board games. Seniors can also enjoy live entertainment on select days.
Seniors 60 and older are provided a well-balanced meal with a suggested voluntary donation of $2. A $4 donation is required for individuals under the age of 60.
Meals served at the new Spanish Springs Congregate Meal Site are part of the Senior Nutrition Program, which serves more than 400,000 meals to seniors throughout Washoe County every year.
The Spanish Springs Congregate Meal Site is Washoe County’s eleventh senior meal site.
