Woman rescued after getting trapped under bus on N. Virginia in Reno

Authorities are responding to a crash on N. Virginia Street near the University of Nevada, Reno campus Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic on southbound Virginia is blocked for the crash, which is at 15th Street.

A fire official on scene said a woman in her mid-20s was trapped under a bus for several minutes. The fire department responded and was able to rescue her by lifting up the front of the bus.

The woman was conscious, and she has been taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, according to the official.

The circumstances leading to the situation were not immediately known.

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) provided News 4-Fox 11 the following statement:

"The investigation into what occurred is ongoing. Safety is our top priority. RIDE operator MV Transportation and the RTC are fully cooperating with local law enforcement throughout the investigation process."
