Small plane makes hard landing at Reno-Tahoe Airport
Emergency crews are responding after a small airplane made a hard landing Wednesday afternoon at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, according to a spokesman for the airport.
The small aircraft could be seen near the Nevada National Guard facilities on the airport grounds.
The circumstances of the crash were not immediately clear, but two people in the plane did not report any serious injuries, spokesman Brian Kulpin said.
Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said in an email the pilot of a single-engine Piper PA32 reported engine problems right after taking off.
The pilot returned but hit an airport sign when landing, Gregor said. There was significant damage to the plane, but the two people on board were not injured.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate, according to Gregor.
