Open enrollment for health care ends January 31

The last day to enroll for health insurance for the Affordable Care Act is Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

88,145 Nevadans enrolled in secured health insurance last year. Nevada Health Link plans to exceed that number this period. In the wake of a new administration, Heather Korbulic with the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange (Nevada Health Link) addressed some misconceptions.

"The Affordable Care Act is still in place and the law exists and the subsidy exists for consumers to access, so we are encouraging people to come out and protect themselves and their family by getting health insurance," said Korbulic. "The bills that are being considered through the reconciliation bill process indicates that there will be two to four year period. Meaning things will stay status quo for the next two to four years."

At the Peppermill Resort Hotel, an in-person event took place from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Certified enrollment counselor and licensed brokers were available for guidance on what plan best fit your budget. Consumers were told to bring in their driver's license, proof of income and residency.
