Two injured after 20 to 50 shots fired near Nutmeg Place in Reno; suspect in custody

Two people are injured and a suspect is in custody after a late night shooting on Nutmeg Place in Reno on Sunday.

Sgt. Greg Bonnette says officers responded to reports of several shots fired in the area of the Alder Creek Villas Apartments shortly before 9 p.m. on March 11.

When officers arrived on scene, they determined that 20 to 50 rounds were fired in the apartment complex and the incident eventually ended on the street.

Police located two males with gunshot wounds and a male suspect was arrested a short time later. Bonnette says one victim was grazed by a bullet in the torso and shot in the leg and the other male was shot between the ankle and the knee.

Both victims are being treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested 25-year-old Dezhon Mack after locating him in a nearby field.

Mack was taken into custody without incident and and was charged with battery with a deadly weapon, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, shooting into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Two firearms were located during the investigation and police say no other suspects are wanted.
