Hawthorne man killed in single vehicle crash in Nye County
A 47-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash on State Route 376 in Nye County on Thursday, March 29, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
It happened about 4:20 p.m. when troopers responded to a serious injury crash on S.R. 376 south of Round Mountain.
Preliminary investigation shows that a 2005 maroon Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling northbound when the driver of the Silverado allowed the pickup to travel off the roadway onto the northbound shoulder, striking a metal marker post.
The driver then steered to the left, causing the Silverado to reenter the highway and travel across the north and southbound travel lanes.
The Silverado then overturned and landed on its wheels in the southbound shoulder area.
The drive, Robert Lewis Cox of Hawthorne, was pronounced dead at the scene.
