Douglas County Sheriff's deputies to carry Narcan to prevent opioid overdoses
Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies will now carry Narcan or Naloxone nasal spray in an effort to assist someone suffering from suspected or accidental opioid overdose.
Captain Dan Coverley says in addition to the nasal sprays, deputies will be issued a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit that is specific to Fentanyl exposure.
Each kit will contains a protective gown, a face mask, gloves and booties.
The Narcan and the PPE's were obtained with the assistance of the Nevada Attorney General's Office and the Quab County Public Health Preparedness Office.
