MINDEN, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue were called out to search for overdue hikers on the Tahoe Rim Trail south of Stagecoach Lodge in Douglas County on July 4.
According to DCSSAR, a father, his three sons and a household assistant were visiting the area and hiking. One person of the group became separated from the others, and called 911 for assistance in finding the missing party.
Members of the mountain bike rapid response team were dispatched to search on the Rim Trail.
At around 4 pm a motorist was driving down Kingsbury and saw a person flagging down traffic on Kingsbury Grade and stopped then drove the missing hiker back to their vacation rental and located DC SAR staging area.
The missing hiker was hot and dehydrated and was taken by the paramedics; he was later released to family.
DCSAR would like to advise hikers to carry enough water, stay within sight of others in your party, carry sunscreen, bring a map, hike during the daylight hours, bring a lightweight jacket and sturdy footwear.
