Breakthrough to help restore honeybee colonies discussed at Reno convention

There's a convention in town that's generating a lot of buzz.

Thousands of beekeepers and scientists are meeting at the Grand Sierra Resort this week to discuss the plight of the honeybee.

Researchers say more than one-third of what people eat is the result of honeybee crop population, but the Nevada Department of Agriculture says the state lost about 23 percent of the bee population in 2016.

The American Beekeeping Federal Conference is unveiling the BeesVita Plus supplement here in Reno to help.

Researchers say it's a breakthrough nutritional supplement that could help save billions of honeybees from losing their colonies.
