Neighborhood Wildfire Preparedness Block Party held in Incline Village

Neighborhood Wildfire Preparedness Block Party held in Incline Village

The Apollo Neighborhood Wildfire Preparedness Block Party was held in Incline Village on Saturday, July 7.

Attendees gathered on Galaxy Way between 997 and 1006 Galaxy Way to learn more about how to become a fire adapted community and what the Apollo subdivision residents are doing to reduce the threat of wildfire in their neighborhood.

Over the past several weeks, homeowners in the Apollo subdivision have received a free roadside defensible space evaluation from the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District with follow up information sent detailing what (if any) further work needs to be done to meet national and local fire regulations.

The Apollo neighborhood is about 60% private parcels and 40% USFS parcels. The US Forest Service (USFS) offers stewardship programs to provide homeowners the opportunity to perform fuels mitigation work on USFS parcels.
