Local winemakers opening their doors with backyard wine tourRENO, Nev. -- Local winemakers are letting the public explore their backyard vineyards in an exclusive tour.Nevada Vines and Wines is hosting the first-ever Backyard Vineyard Tour from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday. Following the tour, people will be able to enjoy a wine tasting and a silent auction from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Garden Shop Nursery.All proceeds from the tour go to benefit the non-profit organization whose mission is to introduce a commercial wine industry in Washoe County, and to promote wine making in northern Nevada."It's going to bring a commercial industry to our region which is absolutely fabulous, because it's is going to create jobs," said Public Relations Representative Charlotte Eckmeyer. "It's going to create new industry for our region which is a green industry, grape vines don't need a lot of water, they're sustainable."Tickets are $25 dollars per person, and are available at L'uva Bella Wine Gallery, the Garden Shop Nursery and Eckmeyer Insurance Services.
