Authorities say about 300 people out for a cruise on Lake Tahoe had to be rescued after their boat hit a sand bar and stranded them offshore.According to the Lake Tahoe News, the Tahoe Queen was about 30 minutes into a 90-minute voyage on Monday when it struck a sandbar of Regan Beach in South Lake Tahoe. The passengers and crewmembers onboard were shuttled from the boat to shore by El Dorado County Sheriffs, South Lake Tahoe Police and Fire, and the U.S. Coast Guard."Because we frequently work with the local agencies during training drills and search and rescue cases, we were able to effectively collaborate and resolve the situation," said Petty Officer, First Class Laura Bostwick, a boatswain's mate at Station Lake Tahoe. "Once on scene, everyone worked seamlessly together to safely transfer the passengers ashore."No injures have been reported. However, some passengers say they had to wait 3.5 hours to be rescued.Lake Tahoe's water level has been dropping as California struggles with drought.
