School board could hold meeting to discuss Martinez conduct

RENO, Nev. -- Although next weeks proposed board meeting to discuss Pedro Martinez's contract will not happen, a meeting to discuss his conduct as Superintendent could still happen at a later date.

"The board feels that it owes it to the public to deliberate in a legal gathering about what to do in future meetings and how thats to be handled," said Washoe County School District outside attorney Kent Robison.

The Washoe County School District brought up more than a half dozen Martinez conduct issues in a lawsuit response filed July 29. Among the listings, the Washoe County School District claims the plaintiff (Martinez) would not agree to additional counselors after the 2014-2015 budget was passed.

He is also accused of not consulting the board of trustees when he made "substantial increases to the executive leadership staff in 2013."

After calling all school board members, Fox 11 only received a response from Howard Rosenberg. "I wish that we were able to say more, but we cant," said Rosenberg. "At least not yet."
