Reno man arrested for alleged stalking

MINDEN, Nev. -- The Douglas County Sheriffs Office is investigating a stalking incident that occurred at a recent Douglas High School track meet.

According to a press release, 59-year-old Rodney Minton Skan from Reno was arrested for stalking of a student participating in a sports event. Police say a school administrator noticed an older male, and reported the male to the deputy at the meet. The deputy observed Skan watching and videotaping a specific student. As soon as Skan realized he was being watched, he attempted to leave the area.

Skan was contacted in the parking lot, where deputies located evidence to support an arrest. Skan was arrested and transported to the jail for booking.

This is the second incident of this nature reported to the Douglas County Sheriffs Office in the past two weeks. The previous incident occurred in Carson City, but the students are from Douglas High. As a result of the continuing investigation, numerous other high school female athletes have been identified as victims. The Douglas County Sheriffs Office and the District Attorneys Office will be cooperating with all the local high schools to attempt to identify victims and make notifications.

The Douglas County Sheriffs Office wants to remind all participants and parents of participants of school activities to be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious persons or behaviors.
