Reed High's Gabby Williams selected for McDonald's All-American Games

SPARKS - Gabby Williams of Reed High School joined the ranks of high school basketball's elite today with her selection to the 2014 McDonalds All American Girls West Team. Announcement of Williams selection came during a January 29 Selection Show on ESPNU. Final Team rosters are available at Mcdaag.com.

The 13th Annual Girls Game, which precedes the 37th Annual Boys Game, begins at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be televised live on ESPNU.

Williams is the first female McDonalds All-American player from Northern Nevada and joins just 23 other top female prep players from across the country. After making her season debut just over a month ago after a knee injury sidelined her for 11 months, Williams is averaging 20.4 points per game and is shooting at a 78 percent clip from three-point range. She has signed to play at the University of Connecticut next season.

Reed High School currently ranks sixth in the state and holds a 9-1 record.

Williams now joins an impressive list of players who have donned the McDonalds All American jersey including: Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Candace Parker, Maya Moore, Elena Delle Donne and Skylar Diggins.

Net proceeds from the Games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The Games have raised more than $10 million for RMHC since 1978. All 48 players will have a chance to visit a local Ronald McDonald House during Game Week in Chicago. For more information, visit Rmhccni.org.
