Fox 11 Anchor Melissa Carlson is not a new face to the area. You may remember her from a few years back as reporter Melissa Santos -- yes, she is part Portuguese!
After a producing and anchoring job at KRON in San Francisco, Melissa made her way to the Biggest Little City in 2001. It was here she got her reporting chops.
After two years of covering stories from Fallon to Lake Tahoe, Melissa moved to our nation's capital. While on the east coast, Melissa worked at WBAL as a reporter and filled in at the Hearst National D.C. Bureau.
From wild, east coast weather, to exclusive interviews, and a lot of breaking news, Melissa has covered it all.
During her time at WBAL, Melissa was nominated for awards by the Society of Professional Journalism. But after five fun years, a wedding, and baby boy, Melissa and her husband decided it was time to come home.
As luck would have it, a position opened up at News 4 and Fox 11 -- and the rest is history.
When she is not at work, Melissa spends her day working out (A.K.A. chasing after her two children), cooking, and enjoying the company of her family and friends. But if the chance to take a vacation comes her way, she and her husband head straight for the water; both are avid divers and LOVE to travel.
