Five local HS FB teams still in the hunt for state championships

Five local teams still in the hunt for state championships

Of the five local high school football teams still playing post season football, three will contend for state championships this weekend.

In the 3A, Spring Creek will take on Desert Pines at Bishop Gorman on Saturday at 1 PM.

The Spartans are 11-0 and have defeated their opponents by an average of 28 points this season.

In the 2A, two local teams are facing off in the championship: Pershing County and Yerington.

The two teams faced off earlier in the season with the Mustangs winning 20-14 in overtime.

Pershing has gone undefeated on the year and the overtime loss was the Lions lone loss of the season.

That game will take place a little closer to home as Fernley plays host on Saturday at 1 PM.

Meanwhile in the North 4A championship, it's the match up everyone has been waiting to see all season.

Reed and Damonte Ranch bring two high powered offenses to the affair. Combined the two teams have scored over a thousand points on the season.

And both teams defenses? Well, they're equally stingy. Reed has allowed 247 points this season, while Damonte has allowed 215.

Both teams are 11-1 and their losses have both come to out of state foes, so they're both certainly the cream of the crop in northern Nevada.

Mcqueen will host the match up and our sister station My 21TV will carry the game live.

News 4 will catch up with both Damonte Ranch and Reed later in the week.
