RENO - Wolf Pack linebacker Jonathan McNeal has been named the Mountain West Conference defensive player of the week after recording a career-high 15 tackles in the Wolf Pack's 38-16 victory over San Jose State.

McNeal, a junior from Los Angeles, had six solo tackles and sacked the quarterback on a key third down that forced the Spartans to settle for a field goal in the first half. The Wolf Pack shut out San Jose State in the second half on Saturday

Nevada punter Chase Tenpenny also was named the league's special team's player of the week after punting four times for an average of 51.2 yards per kick. One of his punts was 56 yards and two of them were downed at San Jose's 6-yard line. None was returned. Two Wolf Pack football players win Mountain West honors
