Three locals compete at NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday

Reno High's Mallory McGwire and Shay Shaw, plus Reed's Gabby Williams all hit the court Saturday for the NCAA Tournament, and two will continue playing this week.

McGwire, an Oregon freshman, had the most thrilling day of the bunch. She recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds and also had the assist for the game winning shot as the tenth seeded Oregon Ducks defeated seventh seeded Temple, 71-70. Oregon awaits the winner of Duke/Hampton on Monday in Durham, North Carolina. No time has been set for the match up.

Williams and the UConn Huskies continued their dominant season, defeating Albany 116-55 to improve to 33-0. Williams had 20 pts, 10 rbs, six steals and five assists in the win. She also went 10 of 11 from the free throw line. UConn will play Syracuse on Monday. No time has been set for the match up.

Shaw's thirteenth seeded Boise State Broncos fell to fourth seeded UCLA 83-56. Shaw put up four points and three rebounds off of the bench.
