The Way It Was Rodeo rides into Virginia City
VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
It’s time to saddle up and ride on up to Virginia City. The Way It Was Rodeo has made its way to town.
Flying U Rodeo is bringing two days full of extreme bronc riding, trick roping, barrel racing, mutton bustin' and more.
Besides the animals, there's fun for the whole family, including vendors and a kids coin dig.
Officials say this isn't your typical rodeo because of the 100-mile view that Virginia City has to offer.
“Northern Nevada has got a large history in ranching and mining; here we’re going to put the two together. Folks can always step back in time and enjoy history here in Virginia City, and this is just one more way of us adding a unique event like rodeo back the way it was,” said Denny Dotson, Virginia City’s tourism director.
The rodeo is being held at the Virginia City Arena and Fairgrounds from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
