Sparks Police: Suspect sought in attempted abduction of 2-year-old
SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
Police say they are looking for a man who tried to abduct a 2-year-old girl earlier this month in Sparks.
According to authorities, a mother reported the attempt on Sunday, May 7, just after 6:10 p.m. in the 2100 block of Jessie Avenue.
The mother was with her two- and three-year-old children in their backyard when she went back into the house, according to police. Just seconds later, she heard her daughter scream and came out to find a man holding her by the front collar of her jacket.
The mother reached for her daughter and pulled on the jacket, telling the man to let go. The "man released his grip," police said, and he jumped over a fence and into a neighbor's yard.
Officers arrived on scene a short time later but could not locate a suspect, police said.
The perpetrator is described as 30 to 35 years old, with a thin build and weighing about 120 pounds. He had unclean, wavy and unkempt blond hair, according to police, and pimples were on his brow line and forehead.
He was wearing a dirty white t-shirt, blue jeans with frayed cuffs and canvas shoes with a blue stripe at the time. Police also say he's described as having "dark, sunken eyes."
