Reno man gets 5 years prison for child porn

MGN Online

A 36-year-old Reno man has been sentenced to five years in prison on a child pornography charge after federal agents found more than 3,000 images of child pornography on his laptop computer.

Scott Russell pleaded guilty in June to one count of receipt of child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks sentenced him Monday and ordered him to serve 30 years of parole upon his release from prison.

Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre (MIGH'-ree) says Russell was arrested in connection with an online undercover operation in 2015 during which the FBI and others identified users of a peer-to-peer file sharing program involving child pornography.

In addition to more than 8,000 images of child erotica discovered on portable flash drives, investigators also found thousands of images and videos of child porn on his laptop involving children as young as infants.
