NDOT warns motorists of lane closures on WB US-50 near Zephyr Cove
ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
The Nevada Department of Transportation is advising motorists to anticipate periodic lane closures on westbound U.S. 50 near Zephyr Cove, Tahoe through the coming weeks as a roadway sinkhole is repaired.
According to NDOT, the slow lane of westbound U.S. 50 near Zephyr Cove Resort is currently closed after an approximately three-foot hole appeared in the roadway Friday, Aug. 11, potentially created by erosion of a storm drain.
NDOT says it is currently conducting manual and video investigation underneath the roadway. On Friday afternoon, department plans to temporarily fill and repave the hole with roadway base and paving materials with the goal of reopening the lane for weekend travel. Future lane and/or roadway closures are possible if more extensive repairs are needed, according to NDOT.
