A person who fell off a cliff in the Truckee area was rescued Thursday afternoon, thanks in part to the help of outside agencies that are searching for a missing plane.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office said its search and rescue team and California Highway Patrol assisted the Truckee Fire Protection District with the rescue.

The agencies are in Truckee to assist with the search for a missing plane carrying two people. "Right place/right time," the sheriff's office tweeted.

The plane took off from Truckee-Tahoe Airport on Monday but was reported overdue when it did not arrive as scheduled at a Sonoma County airport. A spokesperson for Civil Air Patrol said data indicated the plane was in an area of the Sierra Nevada mountains 18 miles northwest of Truckee.

There was no immediate word on whether the victim who fell suffered any injuries.
