Crews knock down attic fire at Sparks multi-unit complex
SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
An attic fire that sparked Friday afternoon affected eight units of a complex, displacing several people, according to the Sparks Fire Department.
Battalion Chief Shawn McEvers said in a statement that several firefighters responded to the 800 block of Nichols on a report of a structure fire Friday, Jan. 19, at about 12:25 p.m.
The first unit to arrive found light smoke and investigated, finding the fire spreading in an attic, McEvers said.
Crews were able to put out the fire, but eight units were affected, with an unknown number of people displaced.
Everyone was evacuated, with one dog rescued, according to McEvers. One person reported a minor burn injury to the hand.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the Red Cross is helping the people displaced.
