CHP: Reno man severely injured in fatal crash near Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Calif. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
The California Highway Patrol Bridgeport is investigating a fatal crash that left a Reno man with major injuries.
On Saturday, Jan. 20, CHP responded to a head-on crash on U.S. 395 at Highpoint, south of the California-Nevada state line.
A 1997 Ford F-250, driven by James Howard, a Reno resident, was travelling north of U.S. 395 at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, Howard veered into southbound traffic striking a 2006 GMC Yukon driven by Sherlan Tems, a resident of Coleville, California.
Tems suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on scene.
Howard suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Renown.
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol are a factor in the incident.
