Sheriff: Missing Carson City boy walks over 10 miles after argument with family
CARSON CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
The missing 11-year-old Carson City boy has been found safe in Washoe Valley on Thursday, May 17, according to the sheriff's office.
Sheriff Ken Furlong says Brendan Hubbs-Whitney walked over 12 miles on Wednesday afternoon after getting in an argument with family members.
Hubbs-Whitney was found near the Chocolate Nugget candy factory in Washoe Valley by a woman who was on her way to Reno early Thursday morning.
The eleven-year-old told his parents he was going for a walk after school. When he did not return home for over an hour -- a missing child search was activated.
Search and rescue crews with the Carson City Sheriff's Office searched until after midnight, according to Furlong.
Hubbs-Whitney was returned home safely and unharmed.
