Burglary suspect surrenders after hours-long standoff with police in northwest Reno
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
A burglary suspect is in police custody after barricading himself inside a home in northwest Reno on Monday morning, according to Reno police.
Lt. Rulla with the Reno Police Department tells News 4-Fox 11 that residents arrived at their home on the 6500 block of Starfire Ln. just before 11 a.m. where they found a side door kicked in and saw someone moving inside.
Due to the possibility of the suspect being armed with a firearm, the Reno Police Department's SWAT team was called to the scene to assist.
After nearly a five-hour standoff, the male suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Matthew Sarabia surrendered without incident, according to Rulla.
