Friday, Feb. 2, is National Wear Red Day to raise awareness of heart disease
Friday is National Wear Red Day, in which everyone is encouraged to go red to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease.
The movement is organized by the American Heart Association to promote awareness among women regarding heart disease and stroke.
Organizers say the goal of Wear Red Day and the Go Red For Women movement is to make sure women know their risk for heart disease and to take action to reduce that risk.
Heart disease and heart attacks were mostly associated with men when the campaign began, according to the American Heart Association, which led to oversimplified views of heart disease and risk.
