Sparks approves $14 million flood control project
SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) —
The city of Sparks has approved a construction contract for the third and final phase of a major flood control project.
The $14 million project, awarded to Q & D Construction, will realign a drain that allows storm water to flow into the Truckee River east of Vista Boulevard.
According to the city, storm water as far north from the Spanish Springs Valley flows into the Truckee River during storm events.
The project, funded by flood fees paid by Sparks residents and businesses, is expected to begin in January 2017.
